Leavers Assembly – Wednesday 23rd July 2014

The whole school and Class 6 parents joined together to wish the pupils in Class 6 Good Luck and every success in the future on their last day at Cropwell Bishop Primary.

All the staff shared their memories of the class and Miss Woodward wrote a poem for the occasion, with Miss Robinson treating us all to a slideshow of the children when they were in her classes in Class R and Class 1.

We also said Goodbye and Good Luck to Mrs Brodie who is moving on to a new school in September and Mrs Heaselden who is retiring after 17 years at the school.

Sports Day – 21st July 2014

The wonderful weather that we have been having lately held on for us and enabled us to have an amazing Sports Day.

All the children took part in the Athletic Sports together in their Houses, followed by Kay Stage One Running Races and the Key Stage Two Class Relays. Each Relay was a very exciting race with every one resulting in a draw for the winning position.

The whole afternoon was a great success with Fire the overall Champions.

Well Done Fire!

Robin Hood Marathon T-Shirt Competition

On Friday 18th July we had a visit from some very special people. One of our pupils in Year 5 had entered the Ikano Design a T-Shirt Competition for the Robin Hood Marathon and won the whole competition. A representative from Ikano came and presented the very first T-Shirt to the pupil along with a Trophy and a cheque for £100 for the school.

Also Gem 106 attended along with the Evening Post.

Infant Activity Evening – 11th July 2014

The sun came out as all the infants arrived back at school for an evening of activities. They started the evening off by having a picnic of hot dogs and ice creams, followed by a quick musical statues while Dangerous Derek prepared for his amazing circus tricks act.

All the children had a wonderful time watching Dangerous Derek perform his juggling tricks ably assisted by James from Class 2 and also Mrs Brodie who was a little reluctant (don’t blame you Mrs Brodie).

After that all the children had a go at circus activities as well has having their faces painted and playing kick rounders with Miss Robinson and Vicki before going home for a well earned rest.

World War 1 Day – 4th July 2014

The whole school took part in activities to mark the start of World War 1, 100 years ago. Children came to school dressed in red, white and blue and each class learnt about the war. Class R played playground games from 100 years ago and made jam sandwiches and lemonade which they enjoyed at a celebration picnic.

The children in Class 1 looked at how soldiers dressed during World War 1 and made split pin soldiers, medals and poppies. Class 2 found out what it was like for the soldiers in the trenches and wrote a letter home to their parents as well as making poppies.

Class 3 painted water colour pictures of the poppies that grew in the fields after the war, whilst Class 4 made poppies and wrote a message to the soldiers who fought in the war as well as writing acrostic poems and making Union Flags. Class 5 planted poppy seeds to remind us of the war each year and wrote messages to the soldiers who gave their lives for us and also for the future and tied them on balloons which they let off at home. The children in Class 6 studied the posters which encouraged people to sign up to fight in the war or to help in the factories and then made their own posters. They also learnt about Morse Code.

The whole day was celebrated with an Assembly where the children showed their work.

Rushcliffe Science and Technology Final – Wednesday 2nd July 2014

Following on from last week’s very exciting science and technology competition, two teams from Cropwell Bishop went to Robert Miles in Bingham to compete in the Rushcliffe final. The children took their fantastic catapults and competed against 9 other teams from our area. In a very tense final we performed brilliantly  and received a certificate and the admiration of many for our great designs.

Well done Team Bishop!
