This morning we had a parade of fantastically decorated Easter Bonnets. Also the children decorated eggs with some amazing designs. Each class then went outside for an egg rolling competition with Mr Palmer and Connor, followed by an afternoon of buggy racing, carrying an egg of course.

Today the whole school went out onto the top play court to experience the eclipse as it happened. The children all stood with their backs to the sun to protect their eyes and some used paper with pin holes in to watch the eclipse. Also we stood quietly for a while to feel the changes in the atmosphere and listen to the difference of the bird song around us. Whilst we didn’t experience a very big reduction of light, other places in the country did and the children were able to watch this on the BBC after we came back into school.
On Wednesday night Robert Miles visited Cropwell Bishop School. It was an exciting game with many chances from both teams. Robert Miles kicked off but soon after Cropwell gained possession. About a minute later there was a free kick coming from a handball by James!
Robert Miles missed thanks to a brilliant save by William (goalie). It was a goal kick and Cropwell stormed up the field but to no avail. Robert Miles had a corner and fortunately for Cropwell it was knocked out for a goal kick. The next event of the match was a free kick for Cropwell, Daniel took it and it was tipped over the bar by the Robert Miles keeper. Then it was a corner for Cropwell took by Daniel, it was a low but powerful ball which reached Kye at the other end of the box then he put it through the keeper’s legs, which ended up in the back of the net. That was the end of the half.
Not much happened in the second half until right at the last minute Robert Miles had a few great chances but they were all stopped by our keeper William.
Overview – Isaac, Ryan and Henry performed some excellent through balls. James and Gregor made some important tackles and clearances. William made some vital saves. Daniel, Joseph and Kye performed some cracking shots.
Final score Cropwell Bishop 1, Robert Miles 0.

On Tuesday we played Crossdale Drive Primary School. Crossdale kicked off and the game began, Crossdale had a good start and within a couple of minutes they had scored a goal. Cropwell had a shot on goal but unfortunately the defender got in the way. After that Cropwell had a lot of shots but unfortunately none of them went in. Crossdale had a great goal and then it was back to kick off, straight after they had another good goal.
At the start of the second half we had control of the ball and went down to have a shot but the goalie saved it. Crossdale scored another 4 goals during the half, but we had at least another 12 shots on goal.
The match finished with the final score 6 – 0 to Crossdale. Over all we had a really enjoyable match and Jo was very proud of us. All the parents agreed that the scoreline didn’t show just how close a game it was.

We had a fantastic celebration of book characters for World Book Day today. All the children and staff made a wonderful effort at dressing up as a book character and each class paraded around the hall to show off their costumes.
Here are the two winners from Key Stage One and Two with Mrs Simpson who organised the event. The winners received a certificate and a book voucher.
Mrs Harries was the staff winner dressed as Gangster Grannie from the David Walliams books.
Can you ‘Find Wally?’ There are quite a few!
